What to Do and See at the Rad Torque Raceway
Watch high-speed racing in person
Media from rad torque raceway
There’s nothing quite like being right next to the track when a dragster launches. You feel the vibration in your chest and for a brief moment, it’s strangely quiet—then suddenly the noise hits you in the face. The speed is almost surreal—it happens so fast, it’s hard to process.
The oval track is wild—cars going full speed and just inches apart. You can actually feel the tension as they fight for a place. TV doesn’t do it justice, though. When you’re there, you’re in it.
Attend a major motorsport event
Media from rad torque raceway
If you haven’t been to a major motorsport event, you’re missing out, I promise. When I saw a jet car at the Rocky Mountain Nationals for the first time, I wasn’t ready for the heat and noise. One second, it was there—then a blast of fire, and it was gone. Insane.
Then there’s Migas Hot August Night, where the engines keep roaring well past sundown. There is a tremendous amount of energy—tough cars, night-time racing, and an atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else.
And if you desire complete chaos? Monster Truck Throwdown provides it. There are gargantuan monsters soaring through the air, plowing into automobiles as if they were tissue paper and causing the entire building to vibrate when they impact.
Witness jaw-dropping destruction at Annihilation Night
Media from rad torque raceway
If you’ve never seen a car get launched into the air and come down in a heap of twisted metal, you’re in for a wild night. The first time I went, I thought I knew what to expect—then a car got sent flying, landed with a crunch, and the whole place erupted.
The crashes hit hard. You can almost feel them in your chest. Sparks shoot out, parts go flying, and the crowd loses it every time. It’s nonstop, over-the-top destruction.
Drive through the Magic of Lights
Media from rad torque raceway
Every year, I grab a coffee, pack the car with whoever’s around, and cruise through the Canadian Tire Magic of Lights. It’s 2.5 km of glowing tunnels, giant snowflakes, and displays so bright they make the whole night feel festive.
There’s something about rolling down the windows, breathing in the frigid winter air, and cruising through the glory of thousands of lights that is just so holiday. A family tradition or a last-minute invitation with friends it’s the simplest way to get in the holiday spirit.
