We know the struggle of finding the perfect skate shoes. That’s why we’ve scoured every corner of YEG, from the downtown core to the burbs, to bring you the ultimate guide to the raddest skate shops in town.

So, whether you’re into classic Vans, techy Nikes, or maybe anything in between, we’ve got the lowdown on where to score your next pair of steezy stompers.

On average, the price of a skate shoe in Edmonton is around $130. However, this may change depending on the design and brand you’ll get.

Brand selection – We considered the variety and quality of skate shoe brands available, ensuring a range of options for different preferences and needs.
Shop atmosphere – We looked for shops that cultivate a welcoming environment for skaters of all levels, fostering community and passion.
Additional services – We chose shops that go beyond shoe sales, offering skate services like board setup, grip tape application, or repairs.
Online presence & reviews – We examined online reviews and testimonials to gauge customer satisfaction and shop reputation.
Community engagement – We looked for shops that actively support the local skate scene through sponsorships, events, or collaborations with local artists and organizations.

Gives a non-pushy and patient shopping experience

“This was my first time shopping here and I was very impressed with how helpful the staff were. I believe it was Shannon that was assisting me with new boots and bindings and she helped me so much! She wasn’t pushy and didn’t rush me at all, she made sure I was comfortable and confident with my choice before purchasing which I really appreciated. She exceeded what I expected from customer service and I will definitely keep returning here for all my gear in the future!”

Provides long-term excellent service

“I’ve been dealing with the Source for years. I have dealt with one certain individual that has helped myself, and my son out tremendously be it skateboard stuff or more so snowboard stuff. Rob has been insanely helpful with setting up my son with his new setup or going through the new stuff that I am always curious about from bindings to boots to shoes to creature wheels. The guy knows his stuff. Ask to see him and he’ll help you out as his knowledge of in store product is immense. Even introduced me to the crazy world of shoe collecting in a not so round about way. Hahaha. Thanks for all your help over the years and I’ll be in soon for some new boots!!!!!!”

Known as one of the best in Edmonton South, Ninetimes won us over with their fantastic selection of skate shoes from all the top brands skaters love. You’ll find everything from classics to new releases by Adidas, Vans, and New Balance Numeric.

They know what skaters need, offering shoes designed with high durability, exceptional grip, and top-notch comfort features. We saw the New Balance Numeric Foy 306 and Nike SB Nyjah 3 when we visited, which are perfect for serious skaters.

But they’re not just about shoes. Their own product line includes skateboards, hoodies, and even lighters. We picked up a few items ourselves, and the quality and style really impressed us.

We also love their straightforward shipping policy – a $16 flat rate within Canada and $20 to the US. It’s honestly fantastic that they offer international shipping, making it easy for everyone to get their hands on their gear.

We also appreciate their new arrival section on the website, allowing customers to check out the latest items before visiting.

Pros

  • Wide selection of shoes
  • Own product line
  • Flat rate shipping policy
  • New arrival section on its website

Cons

  • Few reports of poor customer service

Provides a welcoming and supportive experience

“Went in to get my first skateboard and was super nervous. The guys at the shop were super kind and helped me find everything I needed, they really knew their stuff! Turns out one of the guys in the shop is a pro skateboarder! I think his name was Kyle Lowry or something but it was super sick meeting a pro for the first time. Stocked up on a bunch of boards to start shredding and even came out with a pair of big boy pants and a baker shirt! Ready to hit the streets in style!!!”

Offers an impressive selection of brands

“The other day I was going on date and we walked by the store on the way to the restaurant. We had some time to kill before our table was ready so we went in to check it out. We couldn’t believe the selection this store has! I had no idea these brands were available in Edmonton. The staff was really chill and we ended up spending hours in there and missed our dinner reservation, but my girlfriend said it was the best date she’s ever been on! We will be going back soon for sure.”

We’re always stoked to find shops that are more than just retail spaces, and Boardom is definitely one of them. When we dropped in, we were immediately impressed by their insane selection of skate shoes – Vans, Globe, Lakai – you name it, they have it.

And it’s not just for the guys either; they’ve got a solid range for women and kids too. We ended up grabbing a fresh pair of Vans and some Globe kicks for ourselves, and our wallet didn’t even hate us too much.

The deals they’ve got going are pretty sweet. We caught a clearance sale that was a total steal, and who doesn’t love free shipping on orders over $100?

Plus, their crew are all avid skateboarders and snowboarders themselves. It’s honestly refreshing to talk with people who actually use what they’re selling.

We also like that they’re all about giving back. Their involvement with local charities like the MS Society and youth centers speaks volumes about their involvement in the community.

Pros

  • Knowledgeable staff
  • Extensive product range
  • Community involvement
  • Special offers

Cons

  • Inventory limitations

Shares information clearly and enthusiastically

Boardom is a an absolute treasure!I have to say, when you get a special, attentive and extremely knowledgable customer service experience- it matters. This is where Boardom Snow Skate Style excels. Our guy Dawson was just one of the friendliest folks I’ve come across working in any Board shop, pretty much ever. I’ve been pestering the employees of Snowboard stores since 1993 and so believe me when I say that there is something special here. Dawson knew everything that he was talking about, could elucidate the information he was sharing in a very down-to-earth way and did it with an infectious enthusiasm. I no longer live in Edmonton, but visit from time to time, Boardom is now in the mental rolodex as a must visit Board store. Wish I knew about them sooner, but that’s on me. Great stuff!

Staff ensures a helpful and comfortable experience.

I’ve been to a number of shops in Edmonton looking for new snowboard boots, Boardom is hands down the best! I’m new to snowboarding and a little intimidated shopping for new gear because I don’t really know what I’m looking for. Dawson was incredibly knowledgeable and very kind. While I didn’t catch the other staff members names, everyone there was incredibly helpful and made me feel totally comfortable!  I can’t recommend this shop enough!

Rumor Skateboards & Snowboards has been a staple in the Edmonton and Leduc scene since 2007, and it’s easy to see why. We love how they offer an impressive selection of shoes tailored for both skateboarding and snowboarding.

We also talked to some of the customers, who couldn’t stop praising the quality and style of the shoes. One thing we particularly liked is how they match their boards with their kicks, making it easy to coordinate your gear.

Rumor doesn’t just stop at shoes. Their own line of Rumor Clothing, featuring designs from their staff, skate team, and local artists, is all made just down the street from their Leduc location.

Ensures gear suitability for growth over years

“My husband visited this shop today for our son’s first snowboard and couldn’t stop singing their praises. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and thorough in helping him find the best fit for boots, bindings, and board that our son can grow with for a few years instead of growing out of right away. Thank you so much!”

Ensures comfort and satisfaction for boys

“The Staff was amazing. We took our boys there to buy clothes for school and a wedding.  Lol yes if I’m lucky enough to get my boys to a wedding in clothes they’re comfortable in I am a happy mom.  But 1000% this is the place to check out if you’re into skating and want to be welcomed.  MATT was so amazing with both my boys and he even checked to see if they had stock at the leduc store as it wasn’t the right size for us at this store. Thanks Matt.”

Tuesday to Saturday - 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM

When we first walked into Justin Der and Rob Clarke’s place, established way back in 1999, it felt like stepping into a friend’s home. These guys really had a vision – to create a space where everyone feels welcome and part of the community.

If you’re into sneakers, you’ll find iconic shoes in the store, such as the classic Vans Old Skool and the versatile Vans Slip-Ons, both beloved by skaters for their grip and comfort.

They also carry Nike SB, famed for models like the Nike SB Dunk, known for its superior cushioning and support that’s essential for skateboarding.

They also frequently host raffles and exclusive releases, ensuring you get first dibs on the hottest sneakers.

Their online store is user-friendly, which honestly makes it easy to snag your favorite kicks from the comfort of your home.

We were just slightly concerned about the waiting time during peak hours. But hey, that’s what happens when a place is popular.

Pros

  • Exclusive releases and limited editions
  • Convenient online shopping
  • Special promotions

Cons

  • Long waiting times
  • A few reports of poor customer service

Offers great selection for their sale section

“Only stores like this in Edmonton from what I can tell. They often have pretty decent stuff back in the sale section, much better than you’d find at Champs/Footlocker. Wish there were more stores like this in every city so we could support more local businesses. Highly recommended for when you’re sick of the big box stores/outlets.”

Connor Duke, Google Review

Offers the best selection of shoes

“If you’re a sneaker head in the Edmonton area, then FOOSH is the store for you. They have the best selection of shoes and other streetwear in the city and the prices are standard with what you would normally see online or in other retail locations.

The staff is also very knowledgeable about what they’re selling, which in my books puts this place above other locations like Footlocker and Champs.”
