Everybody who’s ever planned a wedding knows the drill: endless scrolling through Pinterest boards, chatting with vendors, and the occasional mini-fights with your beloved—all because you can’t decide on the right colors.
And hey, looking for engagement spots is pretty hard, too. So, to help you out (and hopefully help you avoid arguments with your partner), I’ve collected the best places in Edmonton to take engagement photos.
If you’re interested, I also have a few pose suggestions and tips on when to visit. If you’re ready to say “yes!” to these places.

Borden Park is a fantastic spot for engagement photos, especially for couples who love mixing romance with creativity. The area has modern art sculptures and a flower garden, which can be a lovely backdrop.
The open green spaces are best for playful and natural poses if you’re going for a candid vibe. For example, you can walk hand in hand under a canopy of leaves or share a laugh on one of the benches.
By the way, timing is key to capturing the perfect light. Golden hour, just before sunset, will make your photos even more romantic. And if you prefer a more private session, weekday mornings are perfect, thanks to the fewer crowds.
2. Fairmont Hotel Macdonald

Are you aiming for an ultra-grand engagement photo? The architecture, elegant staircases, and chandeliers at Fairmont Hotel Macdonald add a timeless, romantic feel.
Imagine posing on the terrace, with the river valley as the backdrop—quite the sight, right?
The lush garden’s stone pathways, which invite candid moments, make it perfect for soft portraits. For a cozy, intimate touch, Adirondack chairs by the fire pits are ideal for chill evening shots.
3. High Level Bridge

For those aiming for urban or city engagement photos, the High Level Bridge will make your dreams come true. With breathtaking city skyline and river views, it’s the ultimate candid photo stop.
The lower deck is perfect for intimate portraits. You can walk hand in hand along the railings and capture the city’s movement behind. Plus, the narrow walkway makes for close-up shots—take a few for both of you!
Pro tip: Use the streetlights to frame your shots. For the best experience, opt for a quiet evening session to avoid street cars passing by—unless you want them to be there, of course!
4. Muttart Conservatory

The Muttart Conservatory’s glass pyramid creates a surreal backdrop (some say even reminiscent of Paris’ The Louvre pyramids).
Inside, you’ll find a more tropical vibe—lush greens, vibrant orchids, and this dreamy humidity that makes every shot feel alive.
There’s also a pyramid that offers golden cacti and warm desert tones. This one is perfect for those who love to drone their shots in sepia tones or want to give a nod to more classic shoots.
Outside, the pyramids will glow beautifully at sunset, making for stunning silhouette shots framed by the city skyline in the background. If you want something modern yet timeless, this is the spot.

Government House is ideal for photos featuring grand architecture and lush gardens. You can even go candid for the perfect shot by laughing on the ivy-covered steps as the golden light filters through.
The south gardens offer a dreamy atmosphere, which is more suited for nature-filled portraits. You can twirl under the white gazebo, surrounded by flowers and towering trees (quite like the fairytales, right?).
Like most public spaces, it’s best to visit early in the morning. Consider hiring a photographer to do the work for the perfect shots.
6. Chinese Garden

If you’re going for Asian-inspired photos, the Chinese Garden isn’t to miss. The place has an ornate pagoda and pathways, making for intimate shots.
One thing you can do is to capture yourselves under the curved rooftop and use the red columns as frames. If you do it during the golden hour, your photo will have a nice, soft glow.
There are nine dragons in the garden for something more bold and artistic. Pose in front of it, with hands intertwined. You can also go in with the details and highlight the detailed carvings as part of your shoots.
7. Neon Sign Museum

the glowing signs drown the whole place in a vibrant glow.
Photo ideas? Stroll hand in hand along the neon-lit row, with colors reflecting on your faces for that cinematic feel. A simple dip kiss under a bright sign brings the right touch of drama and contrast.
For a fun candid shot, try spinning, laughing, or even taking silhouette shots against the signs. The museum is open 24/7, but golden hour and nighttime offer the best lighting.
