Local Pet Parents Name the 5 Best Cat Boarding Facilities in Edmonton

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Facility Cleanliness: We checked places to ensure they had well-maintained spaces with proper ventilation, fresh litter boxes, and clean bedding. We also ensured that safety measures, like a secure enclosure and emergency protocols, were in place.
  • Accommodation Options: We evaluated the accommodations provided, from private cat condos to open play areas. Key factors include bedding, hiding spots, and climate-controlled environments.
  • Veterinary Support: We made sure each boarding service had health protocols in place, including vaccination requirements and emergency vet access. We also looked at how they handle special diets, medication, and senior cat care.
  • Value for Money: We compared pricing structures to see if the services offered matched the cost. We also looked for facilities that provided good value through quality care, additional perks, or flexible options.
  • Convenience and Location: We considered how easy it was for pet owners to drop off and pick up their cats. Additionally, we looked into extra services such as transportation and extended stays.

Would you agree that finding a cat boarding facility is kind of nerve-wracking? We only want the best for our pets, that’s all! I mean, no one wants to leave their beloved furbaby in a cramped space while we’re out enjoying ourselves on vacation.

For cat parents like us, it’s important to find the most trustworthy facilities. That’s why we turned to the experts: local cat parents with firsthand experience of the good, the bad, and everything in between.

Our team spent time reviewing and interviewing to curate this list. If you’re ready to go, just read on!

How much does cat boarding cost in Edmonton?

1. Calico Hills Kitty Lodge

ADDRESS51413 Range Rd 262 Lot 32, Spruce Grove
CONTACT DETAILS+1 780-418-6369
OPERATING HOURSSunday: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM; 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Saturday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

What we liked most about Calico Hills is that they keep cat boarding stress-free and straightforward.

They offer non-window rooms at $20 per day and premium window-facing rooms at $22 per day. Considering the value customers get, we find that they’re worth every penny.

We also love that the staff provides personalized care – clients often noted that their shy or anxious cats felt completely at ease once settled down. Pets also receive supervised play in the open fresh air, with plenty of time to roam.

We also value their health and medication management. For additional fees (ranging from $1 to $4 per day), cats can benefit from oral/topical medication, injectable medication, and blood glucose tests.

Their medication schedules are strict too, so pets with special needs get all the care they need.

What’s even better is that they can accommodate senior cats. In fact, clients reveal that they can leave their senior pets here for up to a week and take them home with no issues in behavior or physical health.

Unfortunately, there are a few times when they can be hard to book – some calls and emails are left unanswered, leading to frustration.

Pros

  • Spacious room options
  • Affordable family room rates
  • Supervised play outdoors
  • Medication management service available
  • Strict medication schedule
  • Accommodates senior cats

Cons

  • Can be difficult to reach

Trustworthy and caring

“Our grandcat junebug loves going to Calico Hills Kitty Lodge. They take good care of her. She has fun with her kitty friends & loves the Catio. She has been going there for the past 6 years for a vacation or a weekend and always comes home happy healthy and tired from all the fun she had with the other kitties. There is no other place we would trust with our special girl (grandcat)”

OPERATING HOURSSunday - Monday: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Tuesday - Saturday: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM ; 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

One of the biggest strengths of Cozy Kitten Accommodation is they only exclusively accepts cats for boarding services. This is a good thing for clients who aren’t comfortable mixing their cats with other pet species.

When it comes to boarding, their best offering is the ability to accommodate up to 3 cats from the same household. This is possible via their private suites that come complete with landing pads, cubby holes, and hanging hammocks.

As for entertainment, the facility ticked off our must-haves as well. Their 3,700 sq.ft. facility is more than enough for cats to move around and socialize. There’s even an additional 860 sq. ft. play area that has floor-to-ceiling windows.

We also love that all veterinary needs are pretty much covered here as well. For senior and special-needs cats, they offer services such as insulin injections, oral medications, and glucose checks.

However, while the place appears to be well-maintained, the volume of guests makes cats more vulnerable to the potential spread of illnesses. For the safety of cats, we recommend requesting information about recent illness cases in the facility.

Pros

  • Cat-exclusive facility
  • Spacious 3,700 sq ft facility
  • Private suites with multiple amenities
  • Affordable rates
  • Discounts for long-term stays
  • On-site veterinary-trained staff
  • Emergency care support available
  • Walk-in facility visits allowed

Cons

  • Minor reports of illness after boarding

Communicative and accommodating

“The staff are very informative and kept me up-to-date with how she’s doing when she was feeling homesick. I’m very impressed with how the staff allowed myself and my boyfriend to see the suite she was staying in for the week I was away.”

“Best Cat boarding facility around! My cats are safe and the volunteers truly care for my cats and make sure they have a lovely environment to be in. I would recommend Cozy Kitty to anyone looking for a place for their kitties while on vacation.”

ADDRESS5825 97 St NW, Edmonton
CONTACT DETAILS+1 780-665-3510
OPERATING HOURSSaturday - Sunday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM | Monday - Friday: 6:30 AM - 8:00 PM

Sublime Cat N’ Canine is ideal for both short-term and long-term stays. Despite being a mixed-pet boarding facility, they provide a dedicated cat boarding space, which ensures better comfort for pets.

We particularly appreciate their individual playtime approach. Unlike other cat boarding facilities, Sublime ensures that each cat gets personal attention while rotating through the play area – they’re also not grouped with unfamiliar cats together.

We find that their thoughtful design is enjoyable and comfortable for pets too. Their spacious setup includes cat trees, interactive toys, a TV with cat-related content, and large windows for bird-watching opportunities.

We also appreciate that they offer medication administration for a fair price. For just $2 per administration, they can administer pills, liquids, and ointments. However, injectable medications are not accommodated.

While there are no issues with their billing and extended stay rates, a $200 deposit per cat should be paid upfront for all bookings. It may feel like a steep commitment for most, though it’s refundable anyway.

Pros

  • Dedicated cat-only space
  • High-rise kitty condos
  • Individual playtime for each cat
  • Solid entertainment amenities
  • Clean and well-maintained
  • Premium food available if needed
  • Strict health and vaccination requirements
  • Flexible check-in times before 3:00 PM

Cons

  • $200 deposit required per cat
  • No injectable medication administration

Friendly and knowledgeable

“This is our second time boarding our cat at this pet daycare, and once again, the experience has been exceptional. The staff are not only super friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable, always ready to answer all of your questions.”

Great place to care for our cat and dog

“We feel so fortunate to have found such a great place to care for our cat and dog when we leave town and can’t bring them with us! If you’re nervous about leaving them on board (as we were the first time), I’d highly recommend asking for a tour of the facilities. Seeing everything puts my worry at ease, and we feel confident that they’re in good hands at Sublime Cat & Canine!”

OPERATING HOURSMonday - Friday: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM

Saturday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

The best advantage that Pet Paradise can offer is that cats can enjoy luxurious accommodation without paying premium prices. We find each space comfortable too, as each room gives cats panoramic views that are perfect for bird-watching.

Beyond this, we find their hygiene to be among the best in the city. This is because they conduct regular deep cleaning and sanitation – sometimes even multiple times a day.

Additionally, they use pet-friendly, biologically safe cleaning products. This results in a clear, odor-free environment that’s safe for your fur babies.

It’s also worth noting that their team is trained in Feline CPR and emergency first aid, giving clients peace of mind. They also have security measures in place, including 24/7 surveillance.

For busy clients, we find them to be a great choice thanks to their accessible location. They’re just minutes away from West Edmonton Mall, so drop off and pick up is pretty seamless for commuters.

Pricing is just around the city’s average so we have no qualms. However, rates do not include GST, and prices are subject to change without notice, which could surprise repeat clients.

Pros

  • High-rise condos for private
  • Private sleeping areas
  • Multiple options for entertainment
  • Individual play sessions
  • 24/7 security and surveillance
  • Strict hygiene practices
  • Climate-controlled indoor environment
  • Convenient location

Cons

  • Prices don’t include GST
  • Rates may change without notice

Comfortable and safe

OPERATING HOURSMonday - Friday: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM

For those who prefer private spaces for their cats, we find Little Paws Inn to be a strong choice. This is because they offer 9’ x 6′ cat cabinets that reach all the way up to the ceiling, giving guests plenty of space to move and play.

What’s nice is that their spaces have a more home-like atmosphere instead of offering the more traditional, confined boarding option. It has a cat tree, elevated water bowls, and scratching posts.

Personalized care is also a strong suit here. Through their concierge services, cats receive individualized attention 24/7.

Boarding starts at $23.50 per night, with a discounted rate of $20 per night for stays of 30 nights or more. We also find them to be a cost-effective option for those who own multiple cats, as there’s a 20% discount on the second cat from the same household.

However, it’s important to know that they charge an extra $3 per night during high-demand periods (normally in the summer when vacations are also at peak).

In addition, new client cat boarding reservations require a $200 preauthorization deposit.

  • High-ceiling enclosures
  • 1,500 sq. ft. cat-only space
