A beautiful cafe in the heart of The Quarters in East Downtown. The incredibly kind and friendly service makes way for comforting food and beverages (the sticky cinnamon buns and varieties of grilled cheese sandwiches are especially delicious!) the environment is cozy and easy going. Conversations, even when boisterous, have that same calmness that the environment itself radiates. The Nook is a beautiful place and I’ll keep returning to its cozy corners.

I usually come on my coffee break to grab a hot chocolate. I love the atmosphere and eclectic furniture and beautiful art. The staff are always friendly and the tall guy with glasses knows my order of by heart when he sees me!! I avoid coming here for lunch because even though the food is good, it’s a hoppin place and the lunch crowd always gets here before l do!
I also love the Suspended Coffee concept, which is this program where customers can buy a coffee token and leave it in a jar for someone who can’t afford a coffee and they can take one and exchange it for the coffee. This gives someone the chance to “buy” a coffee and maintain dignity. I hope more businesses start doing this.
The only real negative for me is that the cafe is so close to where I work, I constantly have cravings to go over and grab something!

Nice place to come in on a rainy day or early morning to get some work done. They do fill up quick so you may want to call in advance to ask how busy they are.
Cinnamon bun was great, wasn’t drenched in sugar and you can actually taste the “bun” part. Food is priced ok and coffee is good. Wouldn’t say it’s my number one choice for a cafe to work at but would definitely come by for casual meet ups.
Staff is friendly and orders come out quick. Their selection of pastries is limited, wish they had some more offerings.it.

Best cafe in Edmonton. The decor is awesome, it feels very cozy, creating a great atmosphere. Extremely friendly and kind staff. Quick to get your order ready. Nice and quiet, making it the perfect place to do some studying or get some work done. A good number of seats inside so it’s not cramped. Parking is not ideal, but parking in the neighborhood is the way to go. And of course, most importantly, a great cup of coffee. Cinnamon bun is pretty great too. Highly recommend the WoodRack.

Awesome coffee shop in the French Quarter of Edmonton. The pastries and coffee are great. It’s truly bilingual but predominantly french. The menu has great food selections but features some awesome poutines. Friday’s during the summer the have live entertainment out on the patio and the ambiance is great for an evening of food and drinks and entertainment. I have been here a few times and it is always great and the service is friendly and courteous. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to enjoy good food and drinks with a great atmosphere.

Really charming spot to grab food. We went for brunch and the cafe is located inside the building. Everything is in French however it is easy enough to figure out what each menu item is. The servers all speak English and you can ask them as well.
There is outside seating available that we will probably try when it’s warm again. Otherwise there is a firepit that you can sit by to warm up.
The food was delicious and well priced. Never thought to make an eggs benedict with a croissant. It was a pleasant surprise for the tastebuds.

Went for brunch with my friend at the little brick cafe. It feels like your not in Edmonton anymore, more like a cute little town outside of it. It honestly reminds me of a place you would find in the middle of nowhere in bc. Quin got the eggs Benedict with THICK cut bacon. It looks so fancy with the radishes along the outside. This place really provides delicious food at a higher standard of quality while looking like high dining.
Have lots of space both indoor and out. I can’t wait to bring more friends here. Well worth checking out.

Always an excellent experience. Has lots of outdoor seating. Parking is on the street so accessibility could be a challenge. Neat old house with an interesting history and neighborhood. Often has special events as well. Has outdoor fire pits which would be fun. Would return. It is definitely a destination as the is not much else around. Well worth the time though.

Cafe Blackbird is one of my favourite spots for breakfast in Edmonton. The food is fresh, they have lots of tasty dishes, and the atmosphere is lively and lovely. Enjoy a morning latte indoors or outside on their patio on a sunny day. Love the touch of using microgreens grown in-house– this place is a local gem of the west side!
—Kimmy Nguyen, Google Reviews
Pretty decent spot for brunch. Very small menu, so the selection process is easy. Pretty decent variance in the items offered given how small the kitchen is. The chef is an absolute star. Having worked in food service the professionalism and attention to detail was evident.
My wife and I both had the same dish and it was presented identically. Both poached eggs were the same temperature (as requested) absolutely bang on. The use of sousvide was properly executed. The coffee was very good. Wait staff was as attentive as could be. The atmosphere was light and quiet. We didn’t see any kids or overtly friendly kids areas. Something to keep in mind.
Parking was fantastic, as was general access.

Take a look at what people are saying about their service:
I’ve only been here for their drinks until recently. I tried their butter chicken wrap and was pleasantly surprised by the quality – nicely flavoured food with chicken and everything that is consistently “spread out” through the entire wrap.. Also, their second floor is quite nice.
—Andy L., Yelp
I like the consistency between different locations for Remedy Café – especially the drinks! Huge fan of the hot chai selection tastes fabulous – my favorites being Kashmiri Chai (rose petals & pistachio) or Badamee Chai (almond everything) with variations of milk choices (soy, almond, 1%)!! Some of the mugs are large with nice logos and positive sayings, which I like 🙂
The food has always been delicious! Love how they use the heavy copper-steel plates and handi (I think?) for dipping sauces. The samosas are nice being just spicy enough for me to be able to munch on, but I love the butter chicken dish and (grilled) butter chicken wrap (spicy just righty)! Foods are uber flavorful and delightful – probably the closest I’ve come to Indian/Pakistani fusion 😀
The layout of the restaurant is also really nice – your choice of tall tables and bar stools, variety of chairs and sit-down tables, vintage cushy lounge chairs and coffee tables, nice mood lighting (not too bright, dim or high color temperature), lower floor, upper floor, etc XD
Nice central location near the university and Whyte Ave, which is probably it’s greatest downfall as well (being flooded by 109 Street traffic and tons of students during exam periods)…
However this café is still one of my top favorite cafes! ^_^

Take a look at what people are saying about their service:
One of my favorites for cozy and intimate in the city.
Feels like more and more coffee shops are going to the streamlined minimalist style eliminating the comfortable chairs – that’s why I love this place so much. It’s still very much a gathering place with an array of mismatched furniture and tables large enough to accommodate a larger group.
Avid reader? Bring a book or two to exchange in their library. Looking for a late night dessert place? Indulge in their decadent (and often catering to gluten/dairy/vegan stomachs also). Looking for a true gelato or sorbet? Stop by to check out their daily selection.
❤️

We came here on Valentine’s and I’m so glad we did. It was busy but enough turnaround for a spot to sit. While in line, they had two vases of roses which were available to give to your Valentine for free. That was a very nice touch. Sweet desserts, hot teas, and a live performer in the company of your favorite person, made an excellent evening.

One of my favorites for cozy and intimate in the city.
I had a coffee and the Italian breakfast sandwich. It was busy early on a Saturday morning, and the taste was probably the reason for that. Reasonable prices, desserts, sandwiches, coffee (including espresso drinks). A cozy gem! I will definitely be back.

Amazing. Cold drinks are original and to die for! Sandwiches are phenomenal. I haven’t had a chance to try any of the desserts yet, but I will!
Staff are polite and kind with service to your table even during the lunch rush. Picked up a couple packs of reusable metal straws – with cleaning brushes (and silicone tips for those of us with metal allergies and expensive dental work.)
Can’t say enough good about this little gem. Shaded patio, comfy interior. Just off of 142 street. Ample parking and listed on Skip the Dishes. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff
“Unique floral decor! Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. The food looks amazing and tastes delicious! We had Italian raspberry soda and passion fruit lemonade to drink. I enjoyed the pink chicken fettuccine Alfredo and my wife had the tuna poke bowl. For dessert, we had strawberry champagne cheesecake. Very light and tasty” – Ross Lane
This is my new favorite!
“This is my new favorite! What a beautiful place and such good food! With my dairy allergy I had the vegan chocolate cake which was decadent and the tuna poke bowl which was one of the best I’ve ever had. Definitely worth it and decently priced. There is a cute store as you walk in with little treats and treasures as well. I want to bring all of my lady friends here!!” – Taylor Lewis
